An interesting shape for a honey pot but this "box" has a bee feeding on a bouquet of flowers as the lid finial and so it cant be anything but a honey pot.
Handpainted and painters mark for Molly Skinner (1936 - 1940) on the base and Winifred Rose (1932 - 1938) on the lid.
Measures 12cms square and the lid has a cut out for a spoon or honey dipper
Some crazing especially to base of the inside of the box
