The company Irvine & Stevenson owned preserving works in Dunedin and sold jams under than brand name St George. Hence the embossed trade mark St George on his horse in the centre of the jar.
The coloured glass was said to keep light out and preserve the fuit better.
12.5cms tall and a narrow mouth at 7cms.
This is a lovely pink glass.
Just a few nibbles around the rim and a crack embedded in the glass on the base but not reaching the sides.
Still displays well and works fine for everday storage.
