This authentic rather gorgeous Victorian muffin dish is a little engineering wonder in itself
When not being used it sits looking like a big fat silver egg with a shield-shaped handle on a geometric base and pad feet
To open the top of the handle is depressed and two baskets fall down. They have a hinged grill work stand for the bread of muffin and a bowl for the heated water to be poured. They both still have their chains for lifting the 'grill' up.
They have been well loved as some of the silver plate has been rubbed off and the base metal underneath shows through. The exterior design around the 'egg' body is almost eastern with stylised tree and arches.
The makers name is hard to read but there is a clear registration mark.
