This is an early hand decorated lidded dish from Carter Stabler Adams, Poole. Made in red clay with a white glaze wash although the inside rim of the lid is not glazed.
Probably for jam or sugar there is a space for the spoon to sit.
Tab handles it measures 15cms across x 12cms.
With purple hashes and a green band the flower decoration on the front and back are stylised flowers.
It has the Carter stabler Adams impressed mark on the base and painters marks.
Three pronged fork Lily Pedley 1924 - 1932 (thanks to http://www.robspoolepottery.co.uk/Poole_Pottery_Decorators_Marks.htm)
There is a small nibble on one of the tab handles but it is such a nice old piece worth adding to a collection.
